National Journalism Awards to be held in a virtual televised event

This year's National Journalism Awards 2020 will be held in a virtual televised event on 24th October. Due to the Covid-19 situation that we find ourselves in this year, we'll hold a virtual ceremony as opposed to a physical social gathering. The event will be broadcast live on TV and online by media outlets in the country. Despite the odds, we've received an overwhelming response from journalists encouraged by the overall objective of the awards, which is to reward and celebrate excellence in journalism. Yes, we are in the middle of the pandemic but journalists still continue work; they haven't stopped working - often putting themselves in harm's way; and continue to inform, educate and entertain the population. It is therefore absolutely right and even more compelling to recognise, encourage, and motivate them in these trying times. We call on everyone - donor agencies, businesses, individuals, and other institutions to support the National Journalism Awards.
