Bio

My name is Mariama Cham a 28-year-old dedicated and hardworking lady. I have been practicing the journalism trade for the past 6 years now. I started my journalism career with Star FM Radio, the Voice Newspaper, and Choice FM, and currently working with Eyeafrica TV as a news reporter and anchor.

During my 6 years of experience, I was able to work in both print and broadcasting media which has so far broadened my knowledge in journalism as well as the academic qualifications I acquired at the Media Academy for Journalism and Communication with a certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma in Journalism and communication. I am

currently pursuing a degree in Journalism and Digital Media at The University of The Gambia.

I started as a program host trainee under the guidance of Pa Nderry Touray at Star FM Radio and the same time reporting for the Voice Newspaper between the years 2017 and 2018 before I joined MAJaC for a professional course. I later joined Choice FM radio as a news producer, reporter, and presenter. I am currently working as a news reporter and presenter at Eyeafrica TV.

Journalism may not have been a choice of career for me initially but as I ventured into it, a strong passion stitched me to it. As noble as the work is, it allows me to dig, uncover, as well as get the human interest stories that will not only change lives but also educate many.

With determination, resilience, and courage, I am happy to achieve and accomplish a lot of successes within my six years in the trade. I am honored to be part of the National Journalism Awards for the second time
