Agnes John -Thomasi is a media practitioner who started her career with Radio Gambia now part of the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) in the early 90’s. She is currently the Station Manager of the West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR). She served the same institution as Head of Information responsible for News, Current Affairs and Programmes. Her work with the UNESCO Africa regional office in Dakar, Senegal and other International institutions added value to her expertise in the media and communications field.  Prior to leaving the Gambia, Agnes worked with the Gambia Family Planning Association (GFPA) as IEC Officer, Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) as Training Officer and was responsible for advocacy and outreach at GICAP a Capacity Building Project for Civil Society at the Gambia’s Ministry of Trade. With over 25 years of experience as a communications and media expert with experience and training in radio, newspaper, photojournalism, video production, advocacy and scripting, and the development of Information, Education and Communication materials, she was trained in institutions such as Radio Deutsche Welles in Germany, the International Institute for Journalism in Berlin, the AACC Communication training centre in Nairobi, Kenya, the Leeds Metropolitan University in England and the Atlantic International University, USA where she got a B.A and Masters in Communications. She is happily married to a fellow journalist and blessed with two lovely daughters.
